Southern Car Enthusiasts Midweek Drive – 1st Wednesday
Aug 7 @ 10:15 am

Many thanks to Ron Bugg for organising our last run to the Foreshore Tavern in Lauderdale.

You are invited to join the 140th Wayne’s Classic Car Run on Wednesday 4th December. This is a traditional Memorial run for Wayne. It is hard to believe that it is coming up to 3 years since he left us!
Cost is a little higher than normal, but hey it’s Christmas and it does include a free drink!

The particulars:

• Wednesday, 4 Dec 2023 – the forecast is 21 degrees with sunshine, so definitely tops down and sunscreen.

• Starting at the Rivulet Café, bottom of Anglesea Street, South Hobart, around 10:15am for morning coffee.

• Parking, plenty of space in the new parking area so park as many as we can there as it’s a wonderful photo opportunity and leaves spaces closer to the swings etc. for the young families.

• Departing – around 11:15am and arriving around 12:15pm for lunch.

• Menu, the cost is a little higher this year at $45 a head for two alternate drop courses, but it does include your first drink (wine, sparkling, beer or juice, which will be available for collection immediately on arrival, so no drink queues!). There are 3 choices for main including vegetarian and 2 choices for dessert. Please advise if you have special dietary needs.

Alternate drop main course served with creamy mash and garden salad:
• Seafood filo parcel
• Pepper steak and mushroom pie
• Pork schnitzel with seeded mustard gravy

Alternate drop dessert
• Baked apple and berry crumble with Chantilly cream
• Meringue basket with whipped cream and passionfruit curd

• Venue clue, very familiar from this time last year, but a great run and a great venue!

• Please RSVP by 5pm on Monday 2nd December as early as possible to rle30386@bigpond.net.au

• Please wear your name badge if you have one.

Please note:

• RSVPs by 5pm on Monday evening are essential and they must be honoured.
• Please make sure that you receive the route instructions at the C3 Café for checking off so that we can inform the venue of final numbers before we leave.
• It may be necessary to cap numbers for some future runs.
• Also when leaving the C3 café Bob will nominate a leader and nobody should leave until indicated by the lead car – thank you!

By accepting this invitation, you are making a commitment to attend the drive and lunch. If you withdraw after the deadline or do not turn up on the day, you also accept responsibility to pay for your lunch if required by the venue. This is to avoid the organiser being asked to cover your costs (as has happened in the past).

Remaining drives for next year are as follows:
• January – As per Wayne’s tradition there is no Enthusiasts run in January. The South – East Rally on 18th January is a popular alternative. Details and entry forms are available on the PVCC website.
• February – Wednesday 5th – To be arranged by Wal VanSchie
• March – Wednesday 5th – To be arranged by Bob Leeson.
• April – Wednesday 2nd – TBA
